Sri Lanka PM secures deal with nationalist monks
Sri Lanka’s Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakse
today formally wrapped up another controversial deal with a hard-line
party of Buddhist monks, promising to overhaul the Norwegian-backed
peace process. Rajapakse and the leader of the all-monks party, Ellawela Medananda
exchanged the scrolls they had signed on Wednesday at the premier’s
Temple Trees residence, officials on both sides said.
