Sri Lanka’s bond investigation report handed over to PM: Committe Chair
Apr 10, 2015 (LBO) – Sri Lanka’s committee appointed to probe controversial bond issue has handed over their report to the Prime Minister, yesterday, Chairman of the Committee said.
“We have already handed over the report,” Attorney-At-Law Gamini Pitipana, Chairman of the Committee told LBO.
“Yesterday, we gave this fact finding committee report to the Prime Minister as this matter comes under his purview,”
“Now it will have to be presented in Parliament.”
The Prime Minister appointed a three member committee following suspicion around the controversial treasury bond issue comprising Attorney-At-Law Gamini Pitipana as the Chairman.
Mahesh Kalugampitiya and Chandimal Mendis are the other two members.
The said bond was declared on the 27th February 2015 by Central Bank of Sri Lanka and carried accusations of insider trading.
However, when LBO contacted the media division of the Prime Ministers office they refused to give details on the terms of reference for the said committee and their resumes.
“We will not be able to release these details yet,” the PM’s office said.
Central Bank officially announced that the Governor will be on leave in Sri Lanka during the period of inquiry.

What’s the point having a report from a politically bias committee. We know the result before the report. People of Sri Lanka not so ignorant.
Suneth, Do not rush into wrong conclusions and await the report to be submitted to the parliament by the PM. we could hear new names involved in this case and if the Governor is found 100% innocent,he could stay but if he has faulted in some way, he should voluntarily vacate the post as, as a guarding of this great institution,he should not have given room to let this happen
We would have known the outcome, if at all there was a committee to look into during rajapassa regime. People are not ignorant, only you seem to be ignorant alongwith 58million voted for the corrupt regime.
How did the US dealt with Raj Rajaratnam, the Guru of head of the Central Bank.
How could Ranil expose his friend Arjun? This is the reason for delay. The crafty fox would find a way out.
