National Program for Developing 1000 Entrepreneurs

The “National Program for Developing 1000 Entrepreneurs” is an innovative initiative aimed at empowering the SME sector in Sri Lanka by enhancing the knowledge, skills, productivity, and export capacity of entrepreneurs, thereby contributing to the strengthening of the national economy.

This program is being implemented by the Ministry of Industry and Entrepreneur Development in collaboration with the National Productivity Secretariat. It was successfully piloted in the Gampaha District, where 100 entrepreneurs were developed through targeted training, consultancy, and productivity tools. Based on the remarkable success of this pilot phase, a decision was made to scale the program across the entire island.

Accordingly, the first phase of the national rollout will commence in 17 districts in 2025, with the remaining 8 districts scheduled to launch by mid-2026. Through this program, entrepreneurs will receive consultancy support, training, and essential resources to grow their businesses sustainably—contributing to national development, employment generation, and increased export income.
