Jan 18, 2008 (LBO) – Sri Lankan community organizations that come up with innovative ways to combat discrimination against HIV/AIDS sufferers would get World Bank support to develop and implement their ideas, an official said. More information on the Development Marketplace The World Bank is looking for “creative, innovative ways of carrying a message”, says communications officer Chulie de Silva.

Support for ideas comes from the ‘Development Marketplace’ project where community organizations can compete for funding.

“It’s a forum basically to try to attract ideas from the civil society, social entrepreneurs, and foundations,” says de Silva

“It’s basically looking at innovative programs, not the usual workshop practices.”

The winners will be selected by an international jury of World Bank officers and independent HIV and AIDS experts at a development marketplace event to be held in India this May.
